June 18th-28th,  2009 daily from 7 pm to 12 am

A little Oktoberfest in Tuscany. From 18th to 28th June a Bavarian beer festival takes place in Pontedera. Visitors will find the atmosphere of the famous Munich’s Oktoberfest in the middle of the lovely hills of Tuscany.

In the city it smells of grilled chicken, pork, sausages, sauerkraut, strudel and pretzel. In the 1000 sqm large tent a band plays the original Bavarian folk music. Thanks to the brewery Herrnbräu, artisanry markets and the amusement park “Luna”, the Tuscan-Bavarian Nights will be a magical experience for young and old.

The brewery Herrnbräu from Ingolstadt boasts a distinctive and unique tradition. In 1516 Duke Wilhelm IV of Bavaria enacted here the “Bavarian Purity Law” which states, that the beer can only be  made from malt, hops, yeast and water. This regulation on the purity of the beer was the first food law in the world.

Pontedera is the home of the company Piaggio, which  is world famous for its Vespa. The Piaggio museum is especially worth seeing. There is to admire an unique collection, which documents the history of the Vespa.
